Export Credit Agency of Kazakhstan signs memorandum with Slovakia’s Eximbanka SR

The Export Credit Agency of Kazakhstan recently participated in the annual congress of the Berne Union, held in Hamburg.

The congress centered on aligning shared objectives and identifying opportunities for collaboration in export financing. Participants discussed the division of public and private risks, trade and development synergies, and financial technologies' potential role in enhancing insurance and financing mechanisms.

During the event, Export Credit Agency of Kazakhstan's management held several B2B meetings with representatives from leading global export credit agencies (ECAs), such as Euler Hermes and Bpifrance, among others.

The discussions led to the signing of a cooperation memorandum between Export Credit Agency of Kazakhstan and Eximbanka SR. The agreement was signed by Allen Chayzhunusov, Chairman of the Board of Export Credit Agency of Kazakhstan, and Rastislav Podhorec, General Director of Eximbanka SR. The memorandum builds upon the foundation established during the Kazakhstan-Slovakia business forum held in Astana.

This agreement focuses on supporting exporters through joint projects, with an emphasis on effective risk management in export operations. Both parties aim to promote and facilitate trade between Kazakhstan and Slovakia while strengthening their relationship through the exchange of experience and market intelligence, underwriting practices, and collaboration in export financing and guarantees.

Following the signing, Allen Chayzhunusov highlighted that Export Credit Agency of Kazakhstan has already successfully supported exports to Slovakia. He expressed optimism that the newly signed memorandum would significantly expand the scope of future projects.

It is worth noting that since 2004, Export Credit Agency of Kazakhstan has been a full member of the Prague Club of the Berne Union. The Berne Union, established in London in 1934, is an association comprising the world’s largest export credit agencies and financial institutions, with 86 members from over 50 countries.

Currently, Export Credit Agency of Kazakhstan holds a portfolio of 514.1 billion tenge, backed by state guarantees totaling 671 billion tenge. Over the past seven years, the agency has supported 245 exporters with more than 1.3 trillion tenge.
