Kazakhstan–Belgium Business Council: New Horizons of Cooperation
The third meeting of the Kazakhstan–Belgium Business Council was held in Brussels
The third meeting of the Kazakhstan–Belgium Business Council took place in Brussels, with the participation of the Export Credit Agency of Kazakhstan (ECA) as part of Kazakhstan’s multi-sectoral trade mission.
The meeting was organized by the Benelux Chamber of Commerce with the support of the Embassy of the Republic of Kazakhstan in the Kingdom of Belgium and the Foreign Trade Chamber of Kazakhstan. The event brought together representatives of chambers of commerce and industry, business circles, financial institutions, and government agencies from both countries.
The program of the Business Council included panel sessions and bilateral B2B negotiations. In particular, ECA representatives held a meeting with the Belgian export credit agency Credendo. The parties discussed new joint projects and ways to improve existing insurance mechanisms in the context of rapidly changing global trade.
The meeting also addressed opportunities for expanding cooperation between the business communities of Kazakhstan and Belgium. Priority areas included logistics, green energy, chemical industry, biotechnology, higher education, investment attraction, and the promotion of Kazakhstani products in EU markets. Participants noted the growing dynamics of commercial relations between the two countries and discussed specific partnership projects.
According to Askhat Abai, Deputy Director of the Department of Trade Finance and Subsidies at ECA, the agency possesses all the necessary tools to expand foreign trade turnover between the two countries.
“We are ready to utilize ECA instruments to promote the export of processed goods and services to the Benelux countries. Our goal is to optimize conditions and minimize risks for business partnerships, which will help elevate our trade and economic relations to a qualitatively new level,” emphasized Askhat Abai.
It is worth noting that Belgium is among the largest foreign investors in Kazakhstan’s economy. In 2024, Belgian investments in Kazakhstan exceeded $1.2 billion, and bilateral trade turnover reached $456.3 million.
